Africa Week Award nominations
We would like staff and students to nominate who they feel deserves any of the awards below, with a reason why they have chosen to nominate the person.
Send your nomination to Africa Week via email at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 9 March. The Cultural showcase team will select the winners from the nominees.
Africa Ambassador of the year (staff) to be presented by General Electric (GE)
This award is dedicated to a UWE Bristol Staff who has made exceptional contributions to the African Community at UWE Bristol and actively promotes the ideals of Pan-Africanism at UWE Bristol and beyond. He/she must have developed and/or promoted issues/services to benefit students of African descent at the University.
Africa Ambassador of the year (student) to be presented by General Electric (GE)
This award aims to recognise the student who is unapologetically African and whose actions have helped raise awareness about furthering the ideals of Pan-Africanism at UWE Bristol. The recipient of this award must exhibit extraordinary character, passion and promise of usefulness to the African Society on a national and global scale.
Africa Week volunteer of the year award to be presented by Sponsor
This award is dedicated to a student who has actively participated in supporting Africa Week 2018 as a volunteer. The recipient of this award would be selected based on the evidence of their commitment, drive, enthusiasm and inclusive towards Africa Week 2018.
Mentor of the year
Mentors are golden and the lifeblood of successful careers. We want to celebrate someone this year who has contributed positively to the support of students AND/OR staff at UWE Bristol in the capacity of a mentor. This awardee can be from any background.
ICON of the year 2018 to be presented by Sponsor
This award aims to recognise the exceptional contributions made by an individual to the African Community at the University and beyond hence promoting Pan-Africanism on a personal, national and global scale. The personal character of the recipient of this award must be exemplary for young Africans to emulate thus highlighting his/her usefulness to the African society at large (selection will be made by organising team).
Best dressed male and female Awards on the night
This award would be chosen on the night and is aimed at ensuring the event is filled with glamour, colour and style. Pictures will be taken at the beginning by photographers and the best dressed persons will be selected and an award given.
