Why study at postgraduate level?

Find your vocation

If you haven't identified a clear career path at undergraduate level, postgraduate study is an opportunity to get on track for a specific vocation or career. UWE offers a wide range of postgraduate courses that can help graduates in any discipline refocus on a new area such as business, IT and law. Find out more about conversion courses.

The next step

You may already have experience or a qualification relevant to your career, but have found that you need to deepen your knowledge and skills, or specialise in a particular area. Postgraduate study can provide the specialist training that you need to take the next step along your career path.

Professional recognition

Membership of a professional body is essential for entry to certain professions and may require an accredited degree plus relevant experience.

Many of our postgraduate courses are accredited by professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Some are even dual accredited – meaning two professional bodies have judged the course to have met their high standards.

Fuel your passion

You may choose to study a course or individual modules to develop an area of interest, without necessarily having any career objectives. Studying for personal fulfilment alone can be a rewarding experience as it allows you to indulge in interests outside of work, developing your own passions rather than career skills.
