Assistive equipment loan service
The Assistive Equipment Loan service provides support to disabled students and staff by loaning small items of assistive technology equipment. We can also help those who require short term support (such as someone with a broken arm who requires help taking notes).
The loan service is run by the Library Disability Team who are based at Frenchay Campus Library. However, we also cover Glenside, City and Alexandra Warehouse Campuses.
What type of equipment is available to loan?
The equipment available to loan includes digital voice recorders, microphones, ergonomic mice and keyboards, seating supports, portable listening devices and handheld video magnifiers. We also have Sonocent Audio Notetaker software for loan.

How do I borrow equipment?
Students need to be referred to the loan service by one of the following:
- A Disability Adviser.
- An Assessment Centre Assessor.
- A Wellbeing Adviser.
- The Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties Service.
Once you have talked to an Adviser, they will contact the Library Disability Team on your behalf. One of the team will then contact you to arrange an appointment if necessary.

How long can I keep the equipment for?
The loan period is agreed with the Library Disability Team at the time of borrowing.
