Airport pickups

At certain times of the year, UWE Bristol offers all new international and EU students the option to use our free airport pickup service from London Heathrow Airport.

The next airport pickups will take place in May 2018. Details will be available closer to the time.

This service will only be available on specific dates and times for new international or EU UWE Bristol students. Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer it to family and friends.

If you're travelling to Bristol on any other date, please read the other arrival options guidance.

Booking conditions and baggage allowance

We cannot offer this service to family and friends.

Airport pickup services run subject to minimum numbers. The time of the airport pickup may change slightly due to the number of sign ups.

If you've booked an airport pickup, we'll send you a confirmation email a few days before the pickup. It will be sent to your ‘My Intray’ in your UWE Welcome. This email will give you details of the meeting point location and other important information.

Your flight must land at least three hours before the advertised pickup time for Heathrow Airport. This will allow time to complete immigration and reach the meeting point.

Your baggage allowance is two medium-sized suitcases or one large suitcase plus hand luggage. If you bring more than this, you may have to make your own way to UWE Bristol. You'll need to carry your own luggage, so please travel with luggage which is not too heavy.

If you have any questions regarding airport pickup please email the Global Students Team at globalstudents@uwe.ac.uk.

When you arrive in the UK

UK currency

Please make sure that you have some UK currency with you or a credit card or other means to pay for anything you may have to buy during your first few days in the UK (for example, food, drink, travel tickets and taxis). Taxis are unlikely to be able to take payment by credit card.

There are Bureau de Change and ATMs (cashpoints) inside the airport terminals.

If you can't change money before you leave, Bureau de Change and ATMs (cashpoints) are located inside Heathrow's airport terminals.

Other arrival options

If your flight is delayed or cancelled and the pickup is unable to wait for you, your airport pickup confirmation email will provide information on alternative ways to travel to Bristol.

If you're arriving into the UK outside of the advertised airport pickup dates and times listed above, you'll need to make your own way to Bristol.

See below for information on alternative transport options.
