Final year checklist

You’ve almost finished your course, so to make your final few months with us as easy as possible we’ve put together a list of things you need to do before you leave.

Update your personal details

Your award certificate and certificate of credit will be sent to your home address once you’ve received your results – check it’s up to date under the My Details tab in myUWE.

While you’re there, check your mobile number and personal email address so we can contact you if we need to.

Complete your UWE Bristol Futures Award

The deadline for submitting your UWE Bristol Futures Award activities for verification was Saturday 1 April 2017. If you have any questions about your Award, just ask a question through InfoHub via My Questions (login required).

Register for your graduation ceremony

We’ll send your Awards Ceremony invitation to your UWE Bristol email address once the date is confirmed. This is usually April for July ceremonies, and September for October/November ceremonies.

Once you’ve received your invitation, you'll need to let us know whether you’re planning to attend using our online registration system. You’ll also be able to buy your guest tickets.

Check your results publication dates

Check when you’ll receive your results on our Results publication dates web page. Your results will be available on myUWE.

Don’t forget about council tax

Your council tax exemption will end on the last day of the summer assessment period (Friday 19 May 2017) or the last day of your placement. You should contact your council as soon as possible for an amended bill.

If you have re-sits later in the summer, you’ll still be liable to pay council tax – you won’t be exempt.

More information about council tax is available on our Managing money for final year students web page.

Download everything you need from our IT systems

You’ll lose access to university IT systems 42 days after your course finishes – this includes myUWE, Blackboard, your H Drive and OneDrive.

On myUWE you’ll find important documents like your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) and your UWE Bristol Futures Award certificate (if relevant). You might want to show these to future employers – so set a reminder to download these and anything else you may want.

Follow our IT guidance for final year students to make sure you’ve got everything covered.

Consider your next steps

If you’re not sure which direction you want to take when your course finishes, don’t panic.

If you’d like to start working, take a look at our online careers resources or come to a careers drop-in session before you leave. Even once you graduate you’ll still be able to access our careers services for three years via InfoHub.

If you want to keep studying, take a look at our postgraduate courses – you might be eligible for a tuition fee discount of 50% on selected courses. You could also find out more in person at one of our Postgraduate and Professional Open days.

Stay in touch

You’ll soon be able to access a range of benefits and networks as part of our UWE Bristol alumni community.

Take a minute to follow our Alumni Twitter account, like the Alumni Facebook page or join our LinkedIn group so you can keep up-to-date with alumni news and events.
