UWE Scholarship Programme
The University of the West of England, Bristol offers more than £100,000 worth of scholarships for international students each year.
Scholarships available
Academic Merit Scholarship
UWE offers scholarships of up to £1,500 to overseas students who have demonstrated academic merit. Students can apply for the scholarship by completing the online form below.
To be eligible, students must have already submitted an application and received an unconditional offer from UWE.
We consider applications when they are received so we strongly recommend applying as early as possible.

Alumni Scholarship
Chancellor's Scholarship
Two full tuition fee scholarships will be awarded to two outstanding students to study a one year postgraduate programme at UWE. Recipients will be required to undertake ambassadorial duties for the university throughout the duration of the course. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in your undergraduate degree and have an unconditional offer of a place to study at UWE by 31 May.
The deadline for submitting your application is 31 May and you will be informed of our decision by 30 June via your welcome website.
Excellence in Sport Scholarship
One full fee scholarship (including the cost of accommodation up to £3000) will be awarded to a student who is ranked in the World Top 10 or equivalent in a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee which is also available within the British University and Colleges sporting framework (BUCS). Applicants will be invited to apply.

Global Student Scholarship
One full-fee scholarship will be awarded for a one year Masters programme and will be awarded based on academic merit. Recipients will be required to undertake ambassadorial duties for the university throughout the duration of the course. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in your undergraduate degree and have an unconditional offer of a place to study at UWE by 31 May.

Justice Malek Ahmad Scholarship
This scholarship for outstanding academic merit is awarded in the memory of Justice Malek Ahmad, President of the Court of Appeal Malaysia (deceased). This is a full fee scholarship for a one year Masters, and an additional scholarship covering accommodation costs of up to £3,000. Recipients will be required to undertake ambassadorial duties for the university throughout the duration of the course. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in your undergraduate degree and have an unconditional offer of a place to study at UWE by 31 May.

Lord Templeman Scholarship
This scholarship offers remission of fees for up to two years to international students studying an undergraduate law programme. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
The deadline for submitting your application is 31 May and you will be informed of our decision by end June via your welcome website.
MBA Scholarship
Millennium Development Scholarship
One full-fee scholarship will be awarded for a one year Masters programme. Applicants will need to submit an application detailing how the scholarship will help them to attain the Millennium Development goals within their country. Recipients will be required to undertake ambassadorial duties for the university throughout the duration of the course. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in your undergraduate degree and have an unconditional offer of a place to study at UWE by 31 May.

Professor Arthur Li Development Scholarships
Professor Arthur Li has been at the forefront of education reform in Hong Kong and holds an honorary degree from UWE. This scholarship commemorates his progressive thinking and contribution to education. This is a full fee scholarship for a one year Masters and is available to applicants from developing Commonwealth countries (as indicated by Commonwealth Scholarship Commission), who have shown outstanding academic merit. Recipients will be required to undertake ambassadorial duties for the university throughout the duration of the course. Applicants will be invited to apply via a task in their welcome website.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in your undergraduate degree and have an unconditional offer of a place to study at UWE by 31 May.

Full Payment Discount
If you are a new full-time or sandwich student and you or your sponsor is liable for the full international tuition fee for your programme of study, you will be eligible for a full payment discount of £500 provided that:
- you have paid your fees for the academic year in full before the date specified below*.
- the tuition fee received by UWE after the full payment discount is awarded is at least £8,250.
- you are paying a higher fee than 'home' students on the same award.
- this scholarship is awarded as a fee reduction so students should pay, in total, the full amount due minus the £500.
- this scholarship can be awarded in addition to our other scholarships where students are eligible as per our terms and conditions.
Awards excluded from this scholarship are the MBA, Legal Practice Course, Graduate Diploma in Law, the Bar Vocational Course and PHDs.
Please note: This scholarship is only available to new students starting a new course in 2012/13. It is not available to students who are continuing their studies with us during 2012/13.
* For programmes commencing in September, you will need to have paid your fees in full by 30 September. For programmes commencing in January, you need and paid your fees in full by 1 February.Introduce a friend
U+WE introduce a friend scheme
When you join UWE, you are automatically eligible to participate in the "Introduce a Friend" scheme. For every friend, colleague or family member you introduce who goes on to study at UWE you will receive an introduction fee of £500. Every student you introduce will also receive a £500 tuition fee reduction for their first year of study. Of course, there are terms and conditions that apply:
- You must be a student at UWE when you introduce your friend, colleague or family member.
- Your friend, colleague or family member must be introduced directly to the University and apply per the admissions instructions on this website. Please note that you must introduce your friend before they make an application, please e-mail friends@uwe.ac.uk.
- The student you introduce must pay the minimum deposit required for their chosen course and begin classes in their chosen course.
You can introduce a maximum of five friends.
If the above requirements are met, then you will be paid an introduction fee in pounds sterling and your friend will receive a fee reduction. Please e-mail friends@uwe.ac.uk for more information and full terms and conditions.

The following scholarships are available to any UK, EU or international student attending UWE and have different eligibility criteria to UWE's international scholarships:

Terms and Conditions
- A student can only be in receipt of one University of the West of England scholarship. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of the scholarships, you will be awarded the scholarship which is the most beneficial to you. This will be in addition to the full payment discount where applicable.
- If you have been awarded a scholarship, you will be notified in writing. Full terms and conditions for the scholarship will be sent with the scholarship award letter.
- All scholarships will be given as a tuition fee discount.
- These are one-off awards, which are non-renewable after the first year of study unless otherwise specified.
- All scholarships, unless otherwise specified, are non- deferrable. If you are offered a scholarship and then choose to defer your place the offer of the scholarship will be withdrawn and you will have to re-apply or will be reconsidered for the scholarship again the following year.
Exceptions
Please note that scholarships are not available in respect of the English Language Pre-sessional programmes.
The MBA, BPTC, LPC, PhD’s and continuing professional development courses are not eligible for the postgraduate scholarships.
Eligibility
You will be eligible for consideration for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
- You, the student, are liable to pay the full international tuition fee. ie you are not a sponsored student (unless otherwise specified).
- Are a national of, and resident in a country outside of the EU.
- You have been made a conditional or unconditional offer of a place from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
- You meet any specific scholarship requirements.
