Part of the Chimera network, Careful is exploring the potential of drama to help student nurses explore and reflect on their roles as carers.
Mermikides uses the simulation wards at Kingston University as the setting for the performances, which involve student nurses actively in the performance (as ‘patients’). Weitkamp’s initial evaluation highlights the power of performance to make aspects of caring visible to student nurses, encouraging reflection on empathy. Public performances are also planned.
