Health and social care professionals

Employees of organisations offering placements to students from the Faculty of Health and Social Care are entitled to join UWE Libraries.

Using the Library

As a member of the library you can:

  • borrow up to 5 books (videos and DVDs cannot be borrowed due to licensing restrictions)
  • make 2 reservations 
  • use reference materials such as journals, dictionaries and directories
  • use library photocopiers
  • access a wide range of databases from Glenside Library using our guess access to databases service 
  • access a wide range of databases from Alexandra Warehouse (Gloucester Docks) Library using the Alexandra Warehouse guest access page

How to join

Please print out and complete the HSC professional staff registration form and return it in person to: Glenside Library or Alexandra Warehouse (Gloucester Docks) .

Your application can only be processed when you have shown all the following identification to a member of library staff when submitting the application form:

  • proof of employment e.g. identity card
  • proof of date of birth e.g. driving licence, passport
  • proof of address e.g. driving licence, utility bill

Please allow 2 working days for your library card to be prepared once your eligibility has been confirmed. You will not be able to borrow until your card is ready. Your card will be sent to you in the post.

Access cards

If you use the Frenchay Campus (Bolland) Library regularly then you can apply for an access card to enable you to enter and exit through the turnstiles during unstaffed hours, including weekends.

External library users who are entitled to use the library without a charge may purchase a UWE ID (swipe) card for £6. If you are a subscribing borrower, the cost of a card is included in your subscription.
