Partnerships strategy

UWE Bristol Library Services' partnerships strategy: information for our partners and for UWE Bristol staff working with them.

To our partners

UWE Bristol Library Services is committed to supporting our academic partners.

Our aims are as follows:

  • To give partner-based students, and the staff supporting them, access to as much of our extensive collection of electronic journals and books as possible.
  • To help and advise our partners so they can develop their collections and services to support UWE Bristol students studying there.

We will undertake this by doing the following:

  • Providing access to all the electronic books, journals and databases allowed by the publishers' licences.
  • Training key individuals (usually library staff) in the use of UWE Bristol Library resources so that partner-based UWE Bristol students' use of UWE Bristol resources can be supported locally. This training will usually be carried out remotely.
  • Offering the additional option of training partner-based UWE Bristol students, and the academic staff supporting them, in the use of UWE Bristol library resources, where negotiated as part of the academic agreement.
  • Helping and advising our partners so they can develop their library collections and services to support UWE Bristol students studying there
  • Taking into account the needs of partner-based UWE Bristol students when developing library services, and by keeping partners informed of any changes to services offered by UWE Bristol Library.
  • Providing a point of contact within UWE Bristol Library Services for all queries relating to the support of partner-based UWE Bristol students.
  • Providing easy access to our physical library collections, should partner staff and students wish to use them.

To UWE Bristol staff

  • Working with UWE Bristol's programme teams to ensure the requirements for library collections and information literacy are addressed when creating new partner programmes.
  • Working to make electronic books, journals and databases available to our partner staff and students, where allowed by the publishers' licensing agreements.
  • Providing training to key partner staff (usually library staff) in the use of UWE Bristol Library resources.
  • Taking into account the needs of partner-based UWE Bristol students and staff when developing library services.
  • Working with academic staff, faculties and appropriate groups (Federation Management Group, Collaborative Provision Committee etc.) to share information about: partner developments; how UWE Bristol Library Services can support partners; the quality of partner-library provision.
  • Helping and advising our partners so they can develop their library collections and information skills support.
  • Ensuring that all UWE Bristol Library staff are aware of the nature and extent of UWE Bristol’s academic partnerships, and by working with partner-based staff and students to provide an excellent service.
