Dr Anil Kashyap is Head of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management (GEM).

Dr David Case is Departmental Academic Director.

Naia Headland-Vanni, GEM Secretary.

Anil is supported by a team of Associate Heads, namely:

  • Dr Kiran Tota-Maharaj, Associate Head of Department – Civil and Environmental Engineering cluster lead
  • Nicholas Smith, Associate Head of Department - Geography and Planning cluster and UWE Bristol Planning School lead
  • Professor Chad Staddon, Associate Head of Department - Research and Scholarship, responsible for department’s research and scholarships 
  • Dr Aida Abzhaparova, Associate Head of Department - Student Experience, championing the student experience and the quality of teaching
  • Adam Sheppard, Associate Head of Department - Partnerships, responsible for developing and maintaining the department’s partnerships, enterprise and outreach.

The department has strong links with the other parts of the faculty, particularly the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE) who lead on some of the research and teaching associated with urban planning.
