Making a positive difference

UWE sustainability network

Our initiatives make a positive difference to people and communities, locally and globally.

Bristol Natural History Consortium (BNHC)

UWE is a partner of the BNHC which aims to engage people with the natural world through collaborative action.  As part of this partnership we support the Festival of Nature.

During the festival interactive sessions are run by our academic staff and students. This gives school pupils, families and the general public the chance to learn something new about the natural world.

Legal Advice

UWE’s Pro Bono service provides free legal advice to members of the public by staff and students working in partnership with practising legal professionals.

This is a chance for students to gain real world legal experience and provide a valuable service to the local community.

Bristol's Big Green Week

UWE actively works towards building a sustainable future and as part of this aim we actively support Bristol’s Big Green Week.

This is an opportunity for our staff and students to share their knowledge on sustainability.

The Bristol Kenya Partnership

In partnership with the charity Umoja, The Bristol Kenya Partnership, UWE is working towards fostering meaningful and lasting sporting, educational, cultural and commercial links between Bristol and Kenya.

Staff and students have volunteered to help improve local sports pitches and facilities, and helped to train young athletes and their teachers in Tsavo, Kenya. This allowed our students to learn about different cultures and develop their leadership and problem solving skills.
