Bromley Heath Viaduct roadworks
South Gloucestershire Council are carrying out essential roadworks from 24 July 2017 to strengthen the Bromley Heath Viaduct on the A4174 ring road, close to Frenchay Campus.
The work is due to last for 33 weeks, finishing in March 2018, following additional funds from central government to reduce the time from initially 52 weeks.
The council expects significant delays on this section of the ring road during the works.
We advise drivers who use this section of the road to allow additional travel time for journeys in both directions, particularly at peak time, or find alternative forms of travel.
You can find out more about the works on the South Gloucestershire Council website.

Walking and cycling
The walking and cycling route along the ring road will remain open throughout the duration of the works.
If you would like more information on your cycling route, if you want to sign up for free training or the student loan bike scheme please drop in to the Travel Information Point located in the UWE Bristol Bus Station.
The vast majority of traffic on the ring road is made up of drivers on their own. If more people take up car sharing then traffic will be reduced for everyone. So where possible please do consider this option.
If you're looking to access the Frenchay Campus from Frenchay, Southmead Hospital and Little Stoke including from Parkway Station the service Wessex 10 now runs from Lyde Green to Southmead Hospital. More details are available from Wessex Bus.
Both Filton Abbeywood and Parkway stations are within 20 minutes walk of the campus. Fold-up bikes are welcome on the train network but there may be restrictions for taking standard bikes on trains at peak times.
