Further study

On graduation, 18% of our graduates went into further study in 2016*. Some choose to develop their knowledge of areas like environmental consultancy, planning, research and specialist science and engineering subjects. Others do PGCEs so they can teach at a secondary level.

Work experience is vital in today’s crowded jobs market. And while our students are here, we provide one-to-one support to help them find experience that fits their career plans.

Exhibitions such as our annual Faculty of Environment and Technology Degree Show attract employers from across the region. This is the perfect opportunity for our students to show employers their work and discuss graduate career opportunities.

Specialist careers support

Careers advice and coaching is available for each department. The Careers Service run a Professional Development module as well as offering input across all levels to give up-to-date labour market and graduate destination information.

Students are emailed a weekly newsletter with news of opportunities and have access to cloud-based career resources. They can also come along to our twice daily careers drop-in or schedule a one-to-one with our dedicated team. We also arrange regular presentations and Q&As from leading sector employers.

It doesn't end when students graduate. Alumni can access our careers services up until three years after graduation.
