I was very drawn to the idea of supporting young children and working with them to be the best they can be.
After visiting UWE Bristol and experiencing the personable and friendly atmosphere I just knew it was the university for me.
I had always dreamt of a job where I could make a difference to young people’s lives, which led me to study for a PGCE.
I decided to take the plunge and retrain, and go for my dream role of teaching children with special needs in primary schools.
The course provided me with so many opportunities to develop my skills, and there's fantastic support from the tutors.
I wanted to play a part in children’s learning – and having enjoyed studying history myself, teaching the subject at secondary level felt like the ideal fit for me.
I had a personal tutor who was completely behind me and went the extra mile to find me a Latin placement.
I knew I wanted to work in more disadvantaged schools, with kids who didn’t know they had a chance to get an education. And UWE Bristol had a big focus on those areas.
A few friends had studied education courses at UWE Bristol and spoken highly of them. I also liked what I read about the priorities of the three-year primary education degree.
MA in Education
I loved the teaching and whole student experience during my psychology degree at UWE Bristol. So when I wanted to become an educational psychologist, I decided to stay on there to do a MA in Education.
