Apply for an international study exchange

How to apply for a student exchange at UWE Bristol.

What you need to do

  1. Step 1

    Exchange applications can only be accepted from students of established exchange partner institutions in relevant subject areas.

  2. Step 2

    Before applying to UWE Bristol, you will first need to have successfully applied for an exchange opportunity at your home University. Your home University will then nominate you to us.

  3. Step 3

    Once UWE Bristol has received your formal nomination, you will be contacted by email and invited to submit your applications through our online system.

    Nominated students will need to complete two applications through our online system. These will add you to our student record system and exchange student database.

    Application deadlines

    • 1 May for Semester 1 and full-year study commencing in September
    • 31 October for Semester 2 commencing in January

    Creative subjects – portfolio requirement

    Students nominated to the School of Arts may be asked to email an electronic portfolio, CV and motivation letter to studyabroad@uwe.ac.uk in order to ensure placement on the appropriate course.

    Once your portfolio has been assessed, you will be contacted by email and invited to submit two applications though our online system which will add you to our student record system and exchange student database.

  4. Step 4

    After you have applied, you will receive a confirmation email from the Study Abroad Team.

    We will then communicate with you through the Welcome Website – you will receive a login ID and password by email. All information about joining the University, airport welcome service, registration and the International Student Orientation will be provided through the Welcome Website.

    Information about welcome events in your school and module options will be sent to you by email.

English Language requirements

To make the most of your time at UWE Bristol, you will be expected to have sufficient proficiency in English to be able to follow classes and submit all assessments in English.

We expect our partner universities to take English language proficiency into consideration when selecting students for exchange. Proof of English language may be required for Visa purposes. Please note that B2 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) English may be required for visa purposes.
