Year 12 campus visits

Year 12 or equivalent students can have the opportunity to come and visit UWE Bristol, Frenchay Campus, go on a tour, meet UWE Bristol students and gain awareness of the potential benefits of higher education.

Target audience

Year 12 or equivalent students with the potential to progress to Higher Education.

Brief description of learner outcome(s)

  • Awareness of the potential benefits of higher education.
  • Experience learning in a university setting.
  • Understanding of the transition to higher education and student life.
  • Awareness of the range of different courses and subjects available to study at higher education.

Joint Subject Taster Day

Explore and experience UWE Bristol.

Our Joint Subject Taster Day provides students with the opportunity to attend engaging academic sessions and find out what it’s like to study at UWE Bristol.

Students will gain an insight into the subject area of their choice through interactive workshops delivered by leading academics. The day also provides the opportunity to explore our Frenchay campus and talk to current students about life at UWE Bristol.

Students can choose to attend taster sessions from a choice of the following subject streams:

  • Accounting and Economics
  • Early Childhood and Education
  • Law
  • Business and Marketing
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Geography
  • Computing and Creative Technologies

  • Awareness of the potential benefits of higher education.

  • Understanding of how chosen subject is taught in a university setting.

UWE Bristol, Frenchay Campus.

How the activity will run

Workshops will include a subject taster/lecture, a campus tour and the opportunity to meet current UWE Bristol students.

Additional subject taster days available

Students can gain an increased understanding of a subject area at UWE Bristol through workshops, presentations and practical activities. This activity can count towards the Heading Higher Passport Plus mandatory and optional modules.

Subject-specific workshops, presentations and practical-related activities delivered by lecturers and Student Ambassadors.

Degree Shows

The annual Degree Shows are a highlight of the UWE Bristol calendar. They showcase and celebrate new talent, with students taking the opportunity to share their work and providing inspiration for all who attend. Schools and Colleges are invited to attend these shows.

Creative Industries Degree Show visit

 

Target audience

Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 students interested in art, design, film and journalism.

 

When the activity will run

June 2020 - dates to be confirmed.

 

Where the activity will run

At UWE Bristol’s City Campus.

 

How the activity will run

Subject enrichment for students studying Art, Design and Media subjects through contact with current students, a guided tour and exploration of their final year work.

An opportunity to find more about the different courses in these areas on offer at UWE Bristol.
