Student and parent speaking with a student ambassador

What happens at an Open Day

From subject-specific talks to campus tours and drop-in sessions, an Open Day is your chance to explore for yourself, quiz our academics and students and see what course is right for you.

Subject-specific sessions

No matter which campus you're visiting, you'll want to find out more about the course you are interested in studying. That’s why we provide you with a variety of subject-specific talks, taster sessions, tours of departmental facilities and drop-in sessions with academics from your course. We will equip you with all the information you will need to make the right decision for you.

Central talks and drop-in sessions

There will be a number of central talks and drop-in sessions that you can attend (depending on which campus/site you visit). The main areas that we have covered to support you as a student are:

Campus tour

You will have the opportunity to tour our campuses (and Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus) with our student ambassadors and see our facilities and all they can offer you.

Bristol tour

From Frenchay Campus, take a free one hour tour of the city centre and see what Bristol has to offer.

Accommodation tour

Take a tour of our accommodation and get a real feel of what it’s like to live on campus. Remember to book this in addition to your general campus tour.

Everything you need to know

Our expert staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the process of getting to university. Come and speak to them at our information and advice zone for one-to-one help and advice.

This service varies depending on the campus you are visiting but may include:

  • Accommodation
  • Admissions
  • Careers, placements and volunteering
  • Centre for Music
  • Centre for Sport
  • Disability Services
  • International Student Advice
  • The Students' Union at UWE and Job Shop

For more information about fees and funding come along to a drop in session on the day where you'll be able to ask questions.

For all of these events, please check your Open Day programme for timings. Programmes will be available three weeks before the Open Day.
