What happens at an Open Day

From subject-specific talks to campus tours and drop-in sessions, an Open Day is your chance to explore for yourself, quiz our academics and students and see what course is right for you.

Subject-specific sessions

No matter which campus you're visiting, you'll want to find out more about the course you are interested in studying. That’s why we provide you with a variety of subject-specific talks, taster sessions, tours of departmental facilities and drop-in sessions with academics from your course. We will equip you with all the information you will need to make the right decision for you.

There will be a number of central talks and drop-in sessions that you can attend depending on which campus/site you visit. Find out more about:

Tours

Campus tour

You will have the opportunity to tour our campuses (and Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus) with our student ambassadors and see all our facilities can offer you. Alternatively you can pick up a copy of our self-guided tour, which will be available in the Information and Advice Zone.

Bristol tour

From Frenchay Campus, take a free one hour tour of the city centre and experience the sights and sounds of Bristol.

Accommodation tour

Take a tour of our accommodation and get a real feel of what it’s like to live on campus. Book a guided tour alongside your campus tour, or collect a copy of our self-guided tour from the Information and Advice Zone.

Everything you need to know

Our expert staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have and guide you through the process of getting to university. Come and speak to them at our Information and Advice Zone for one-to-one help and advice.

This service varies depending on the campus you are visiting but may include staff from:

  • Accommodation
  • Admissions
  • Careers, placements and volunteering 
  • The Centre for Music
  • The Centre for Sport
  • Disability Services, Wellbeing Services, and dyslexia/SpLD support 
  • UWE Cares - advice for care leavers, estranged students and carers 
  • The Students' Union at UWE and JobShop

For more information about fees and funding come along to a drop-in session on the day where you'll be able to ask questions.

For all of these events, please check your Open Day programme for timings. Programmes will be available three weeks before the Open Day.
