Opportunities and placements
Throughout your course, you’ll have the chance to build on your core studies in a variety of ways:
- Learn about industry challenges and best practice from regular presentations by visiting professionals.
- Volunteer with the Engineers without Borders society to gain valuable experience on projects such as an energy management survey for Glastonbury festival and a nature centre in Borneo.
- Go on field trips and put your skills into practice.
- Take up a placement with one of our partners in the Construction Consortium or the Real Estate Consortium.
Due to the ongoing development of the UWE New Campus Masterplan, a number of large projects are currently under development, most notably the new Faculty of Business and Law building. This puts our students in a unique position regarding opportunities for real life experience and vocational understanding.
Our students will have the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the application of construction technology and management aspects of projects in the site environment through guest speakers from industry, opportunities for site visits, case study material and work experience and internships during the course of their studies.
ISG, the main contractor have published a project microsite for more details about the construction.
