Emily's Clearing journey
Emily joined UWE Bristol through Clearing to study BA(Hons) Film Studies and she couldn’t be happier with her choice.
“When I finished my A-Levels, I was focused on going travelling on my gap year and not whether I had been accepted into my first choice of university. When I got back home, I knew I wasn’t finished with education. So I spoke to my college for advice and they advised me to apply to university through Clearing.
Making a decision
"I hadn’t spent much time away from home so I wanted to stay close to Taunton, my home town. Naturally UWE Bristol came up and even though the Clearing deadline was fast approaching I did some research to see what student life would be like there. Student vlogs and blogs were great to get a real perspective, but it was the course that I was sold on. I knew I wanted to study Film Studies and UWE Bristol’s course was exactly what I was looking for.
"I submitted my application the day before the Clearing deadline, so I was keen to make sure I had completed everything correctly. The Clearing staff at UWE Bristol were helpful and the process was straightforward. Within a few days, I was offered my place at UWE Bristol and I was so excited about learning again."
Life after Clearing
"At first I wasn’t able to live on campus so I commuted from home, but after a while I decided that I wanted to live in Bristol so I contacted Accommodation Services and they found me a place where someone had dropped out of halls.
"And I am loving my course. My lecturers are incredibly engaging and the course delivers on my expectations. We’re encouraged to get involved in the industry as well through the many opportunities available, which is great for building experience.
I’m so glad I came to UWE Bristol. Even though I applied late, I had time to ask plenty of questions and do some research so I was sure I was making the right decision for me.”
