English language requirements

To study at UWE Bristol you need a recognised English Language qualification of at least GCSE grade C or the equivalent standard.

Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes

You must have:

  • a full degree in a majority English speaking country
  • or a degree from the UK
  • or one of the qualifications in the list below.

Some courses have more specific language requirements, so make sure you also check the requirements for the course you want to apply for.

Pre-Sessional and short courses

Pre-sessional English courses provide you with the language skills and cultural understanding you need to study at a UK university.

If you want to study a Pre-sessional English course you should first obtain the IELTS for UKVI Certificate at one of the test centres approved by UKVI.
