We’re looking forward to welcoming you as you begin your studies at UWE Bristol. To make joining us as easy as possible, we’ve put together a list of things you need to do before you arrive.
If you're an international student, please read our pre-arrival information for new international students in conjunction with this checklist.
1. Activate your UWE Bristol IT systems accounts
Once you have satisfied all admissions requirements, we'll send you your login details for our IT systems to the email address that we've been using to communicate with you.
Please follow the instructions to activate your account once you’ve received your login details.
Once your account has been activated, we’ll send all future communications to your University email account (you can find it through myUWE, the student portal). Make sure that you check it regularly.
2. Complete your online registration
Register online, confirm your personal details and submit your photograph for your university ID card.
It is essential that you follow steps one and two to complete your online registration. You won’t be able to access Blackboard (your virtual learning environment) or get full access to myUWE (your student portal) until you’ve registered.
3. Make arrangements to pay your fees
4. Discover our secrets to success
Across five short modules, using films and podcasts, we've brought together insight from our lecturers and support services that will help you develop the five skills you need to be in control of your wellbeing. You're expected to complete these before you arrive, so get started now. But don't worry, there's no assessment.
5. Complete your disclosure checks (specific courses only)
If you're going to be studying a specific health or education course, you'll need to complete your Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health checks. You'll have received the relevant details to apply for this via your Welcome website when you firmly accepted your offer.
If you have any queries relating about disclosure checks please email the Applicant Experience Team at email@example.com.
6. Read your Preparing to Study documents
You’ll be sent some information to your Welcome Portal and contact email address about how to prepare for your course. Make sure you read this well in advance of your induction, as there may be tasks and activities that you’ll need to complete for your first induction session.
7. Pack your photo ID
You'll need photographic evidence of your identity (such as a valid passport, driving licence or EU/Swiss Identity Card) so that you can complete your registration in person at the University.
8. Access your teaching timetable via myUWE
Your teaching timetable will be available under the Courses tab in myUWE.
If you have any problems viewing it, follow the self-help guide in InfoHub (you'll need your UWE Bristol login details) to see what you should do next.
9. Check the details of your first induction session
You can access the specific date, time and location of your first session via your online timetable in myUWE.
We may need to make changes to your course induction, so please check your online timetable the week before to ensure you have the most up-to-date details.
During induction week there are a variety of activities that you may be involved in. Examples include group work, visual and audio presentations, coach trips, site visits, walking tours and boat trips. If you have any access requirements, please contact the Disability Service at firstname.lastname@example.org and copy in your course leader as soon as possible so arrangements can be made to ensure that you can take part.
10. Change your disability code (if you need to)
If you’re disabled, including if you have a medical condition, a mental health condition or a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) and you didn’t disclose it as part of your application to UWE Bristol, get in touch with UCAS to change your disability code. You can contact UCAS on 0371 468 0468.
