Airport welcome service

In January Student Ambassadors will be based at London Heathrow Airport as part of the UWE Bristol Airport Welcome Service.

For students starting at UWE Bristol in January, Student Ambassadors will be based at London Heathrow Airport as part of our Airport Welcome Service.

International and European students arriving at Heathrow will be greeted by Student Ambassadors and will be directed to the Central Bus Station services. Students will then be able to travel to Bristol via the Megabus coach service or by National Express.

This new Airport Welcome Service will be in place from Monday 6 January to Sunday 12 January 2020.

International and European Orientation will take place on Monday 13 January and Tuesday 14 January 2020 in the Bristol Business School (X Block). Students will be expected to attend workshops on Monday 13 January 2020 and visit the Global Fair on Tuesday 14 January 2020.

Students arriving week commencing Monday 6 January 2020 will have the chance to sign up to social events shortly. Event details will be sent to students via email.

When you arrive in the UK

UK currency

Please make sure that you have some UK currency with you or a credit card or other means to pay for anything you may have to buy during your first few days in the UK (for example, food, drink, travel tickets and taxis). Taxis are unlikely to be able to take payment by credit card.

If you cannot change money before you leave, there are Bureau de Change and ATMs (cashpoints) inside the airport terminals.

Your Baggage Allowance

You will need to carry your own luggage, so please travel with luggage which is not too heavy.

The recommended baggage allowance is two medium-sized suitcases or one large suitcase plus hand luggage.
