Pre-arrival checklist

Key things for you to do as a new student before joining UWE Bristol.

What you need to do

  1. Step 1

    We’ve developed a high-quality, blended learning approach to the 2022/23 academic year. This means that some elements of your course will be delivered online, and you will be expected to study remotely using your own IT equipment.

    Make sure you have a computer/laptop which has the correct specifications for your course and check the suitability of your internet connection. Where your course has additional IT requirements, please refer to guidance from the programme team.

  2. Step 2

    We will send your UWE Bristol email address and username to the email address that we've been using to communicate with you.

    You will then be able to complete the registration process in MYUWE - there you will confirm your personal details, make arrangements to pay your fees and submit your photograph for your university ID card.

    Registering online will give you access to Starting Block, Blackboard and your university email account.

  3. Step 3

    Across five short modules, using films and podcasts, we've brought together insight from our lecturers and support services that will help you develop the five skills you need to be in control of your wellbeing. You're expected to complete these during your time with us. But don't worry, there's no assessment.

  4. Step 4

    If you're going to be studying a specific health or education course, you'll need to complete your Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health checks. You'll have received the relevant details to apply for this via your Welcome website when you firmly accepted your offer.

  5. Step 5

    You’ll be sent some information to your Welcome Portal and contact email address about how to prepare for your course. Make sure you read this well in advance of your induction, as there may be tasks and activities that you’ll need to complete for your first induction session.

  6. Step 6

    Teaching timetables

    Your teaching timetable will be available in MYUWE after the main publication date in September and within three working days of completing registration.

    If you have any problems viewing it, follow the self-help guide in InfoHub (you'll need your UWE Bristol login details) to see what you should do next.

    Induction sessions

    You can access the specific date, time and location of your first session via your online timetable in MYUWE.

    We may need to make changes to your course induction, so please check your online timetable the week before to ensure you have the most up-to-date details.

  7. Step 7

    If you’re disabled, including if you have a medical condition, a mental health condition or a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) and you didn’t disclose it as part of your application to UWE Bristol, get in touch with UCAS to change your disability code. You can contact UCAS on 0371 468 0468.
