International Student Orientation

We look forward to welcoming you to UWE Bristol. As a new international or EU student, International Student Orientation is your chance to meet other students, members of staff from the university and learn important information about the University.

International welcome

Get the information you need to settle in to your course by going to one of the below sessions. Please click each event link to book on to it.

Please note the next International Student Orientation will take place on Tuesday 8 January 2019 at 10:00 in the Darlington Suite on Frenchay Campus. There is also a welcome party on the 9 January 2019. Please confirm your attendance at the orientation and welcome party by clicking on the correct events listed below and registering.

Don't forget that you must register and get your visa checked in person.

Orientation events by day

There's going to be plenty of fun and social things going on over the next few weeks, so take a look at our upcoming events.

  • Sightseeing cargo tour with traditional fish and chip experience


    Wapping Wharf is a new quarter in the historical and cultural heart of Bristol where people can live, shop, eat and relax. Join us and explore the Bristol's iconic harbourside with the traditional fish and chip experience at Salt & Malt.

  • Taste of Vietnamese


    Join us for a visit at Pho, the authentic Vietnamese street food restaurant. variety of tasty Vietnamese street-food inspired dishes including spring and summer rolls, salads, wok-fried noodles, and curries.

  • Vietnamese country-specific session


    Join us for the country-specific session, where you will have an opportunity to meet other Vietnamese students and learn how to adapt life in the UK.

  • Asian supermarket trip


    Join us for a visit at Wai Yee Hong, the Asian Supermarket and stock up authentic Oriental products and brands.

  • Pizza night out


    Come and join us for a pizza night out where you can meet new friends and enjoy drink and food.

  • Language cafe - teas around the world


    The Language Cafe is a chance to meet new people, improve your language skills, and learn different cultures in a relaxed and friendly setting. This time we'll be going on a journey of tea traditions and taste the world from to chai, Moroccan mint, to a traditional British builder's brew. Free tasters and samples given with 10% discount.

  • Accommodation Fair


    If you are looking for next year's home then The Students' Union at UWE Accomodation Fair should be in your diary. There will be a whole host of accommodation providers and lots of accommodation experts on hand ready, willing and able to answer all of your housing queries

  • Year of the Pig Lunar New Year


    Come and join us to celebrate the start of the Year of the Pig at one of Bristol's finest Chinese restaurants. With a choice of dim sum to over 65 authentic Chinese dishes, all freshly prepared to order. There will be lion dance, fire crackers, traditional dances, singing and market food stalls from dumplings, Japanese food to fresh cakes and bubble tea and much more.

Late arrivals

If you have arrived at UWE Bristol after Orientation, you can attend the 'Welcome Lounge' which will help you settle in the UK with our Global Student Support Team and Student Ambassadors. Visit Level 2 of Frenchay Library, Monday - Friday between 10:00-16:00 (from 7 - 18 January 2019) and between 10:00-14:00 (from 21 January - 1 February 2019).

Please note a photographer may be present during the orientation sessions and some of the images might be used in the future for marketing and promotional activities. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform us when registering for the orientation.
