Airport welcome service

UWE Bristol offers all new international and EU students the option to use our airport welcome service from London Heathrow Airport.

Global Ambassadors will be based at London Heathrow to meet and greet students from Monday 9th September to Friday 20th September 2019 (Monday - Friday). Students will be directed to the Megabus coach service based at the Central Bus Station. Megabus coaches depart every two hours and will stop at the University’s Frenchay Campus and the City Centre.

Students can pre-book their Megabus coach ticket and can take advantage of a discounted ticket price. Individual discount codes will be sent to students, once they have registered their arrival details.

International and EU Orientation takes place on Wednesday 11th September to Friday 13th September, however for students arriving on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th there will be some social orientation sessions to sign up to.

When you arrive in the UK

UK currency

Please make sure that you have some UK currency with you or a credit card or other means to pay for anything you may have to buy during your first few days in the UK (for example, food, drink, travel tickets and taxis). Taxis are unlikely to be able to take payment by credit card.

If you cannot change money before you leave, there are Bureau de Change and ATMs (cashpoints) inside the airport terminals.

Your Baggage Allowance

You will need to carry your own luggage, so please travel with luggage which is not too heavy.

The recommended baggage allowance is two medium-sized suitcases or one large suitcase plus hand luggage.
