Quit smoking

Smoking is responsible for over 80% of deaths from lung cancer and a quarter of deaths from heart disease. This page links to guidance to help you stop.

Reasons to stop smoking

As well as a big impact on your health, smoking causes bad breath, aging of the skin, shorter life expectancy and costs a lot of money. See the ten health benefits of stopping smoking on the NHS website to understand the effects that smoking has on your body.

Support and guidance to help you stop

If you have considered or are considering stopping smoking, you don't have to do it alone.

The NHS, Quit Day and Tobacco Free Campus all provide a large range of advice, support and information for quitting smoking. The NHS offer a variety of resources such as NHS Quit Kits, cost calculators, FAQs, a smoking helpline and local stop smoking services, all accessible via the NHS Smokefree website, or you can talk to an expert.

You can also find out more about the South Gloucestershire Stop Smoking Service.
