Prayer rooms and reflective spaces

We have a range of prayer rooms and reflective spaces on each campus that are available to those of all faiths and none.

Frenchay Campus

The Octagon

The Octagon is located on Frenchay Campus between blocks D and E. It is a relaxed environment and a sanctuary to staff and students of all faiths and none, and offers:

  • Sanctuary and Quiet Room – A space dedicated to prayer, reflexion, spirituality and related activities. This medium sized space has limited furniture to maximise floor space, adjustable lighting and a selection of yoga mats, meditation cushions and multi-faith prayer books. Bookings are limited in this room, so that it remains available for staff and students to drop-in at any time. Please note that food and drink is not permitted in this room.
  • Reflection Room – A small, private space which can be used for spiritual guidance, reflection, pastoral care and prayer.

The Octagon is open 08:30-17:00 Monday to Friday and we welcome drop ins. These rooms, along with two other activity rooms are available for bookings Monday to Sunday, 24 hours per day. If you would to book a room, please email
