Do you have an idea that you would like to explore? Ever wanted to run your own business or project but unsure of where to start? We offer internship programmes and funding opportunities to give you the opportunity to work on your own idea.

Support programmes

Entrepreneur Support Programme

The Entrepreneur Support Programme aims to help you take your business from the ideas stage through to proof-of-concept. We do this by giving you a range of support, tools, and guidance to help develop both you and your venture. Summer self-employed internships

We offer self-employed internships over eight weeks in the summer. These internships give you the opportunity to work on and develop your own ideas. View more information about self-employed enterprise internships, including details regarding eligibility requirements, key dates and information.

Self-employed placements

If you are on a course in either the Faculty of Environment and Technology or the Bristol Business School, then you can apply to undertake a one-year self-employed placement as part of your degree. UWE Bristol Enterprise offer a support programme to give you the opportunity to work on your own idea and see if it can become a viable business. Launch Space

Have you graduated in the last three years in the UK and have a business idea you’d like to put into action? Launch Space provides free desk space and business support for graduate start-up businesses in the heart of our University Enterprise Zone.  

Funding opportunities


UWE Hubbub is a crowdfunding platform that allows you to raise money for your business idea, research, or project. UWE Bristol Enterprise gives you the support to craft the perfect campaign, as well as workshops on how to market it to help you reach your crowdfunding goals.

Social Enterprise Try-It Awards

Funding opportunities for students and alumni* who have a social enterprise idea, or are looking to set up their own social enterprise. Find out more about our social enterprise grants.

Dragons’ Den

As part of the partnership agreement with Santander Universities Global Division, UWE Bristol Enterprise have up to £5,000 available to support students with an existing business or business idea. Find out about the Santander Dragons’ Den funding (InfoHub login required).

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2018

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship. This year, GEW will take place from Monday 19 November to Sunday 25 November 2018. UWE Bristol Enterprise Week 2018

UWE Bristol Enterprise host its own enterprise week every year in February. This year Enterprise Week will take place on Monday 12 to Sunday 18 February 2018. Pop-up shops, challenges and competitions

UWE Bristol Enterprise runs various challenges and competitions throughout the year. Some examples this year include Dragons' Den, Pitch and Pie, and pop-up shops (login required). These are aimed at developing your enterprise skills and ability to recognise opportunities.
