UWE Bristol offers a wide range of opportunities to undertake additional learning, which may be sector specific or more generic. Our professional training courses will give you the competitive edge to take your career to the next level.

Project Management e-learning courses

APM Introductory Project Management e-Learning course

The Association for Project Management (APM) has over 20,000 individual and 500 corporate members, making it the largest professional body of its kind in Europe.

This multimedia training course provides an introduction to project management. It is accessed via a web portal, uses voice-over, animation and regular learning-reinforcement techniques, providing learning in an easy to use and convenient format.

This free course takes around 12 hours to complete – learn at your own pace at a convenient time and book mark your position to return later, if you need.

You also have the option to test your knowledge using the inbuilt exam simulator, and will be awarded a certificate of course completion if you achieve 75 per cent or more.

Benefits of the course

The benefits of undertaking this course are:

  • Understanding the principles of project management.
  • Certificate of course completion for learners who achieve 75 per cent or more in the inbuilt exam simulator.
  • Ready to take the APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management (at additional cost and through external training provider or APM).

PRINCE2® foundation e-learning course

PRINCE2® is a structured approach to project management. It provides a method for managing projects within a clearly defined framework and PRINCE2® Practitioner is a pre-requisite for over 60 per cent of all project management jobs advertised in the UK.

This PRINCE2® foundation level e-learning course provides an understanding of the principles and techniques behind PRINCE2®. It is accessed via a web portal, uses voice-over, animation and regular learning-reinforcement techniques, providing learning in an easy to use and convenient format.

This free course takes around eight hours to complete - learn at your own pace at a convenient time, bookmarking your position to return later if required.

You also have the option to test your knowledge using the inbuilt exam simulator, and will be awarded a certificate of course completion if you achieve 75 per cent or more.

UWE Bristol Futures Award

Completion of the foundation e-Learning Course (completing the online e-learning course and achieving 75 per cent or more in the exam simulator) can count as an activity for the UWE Bristol Futures Award.

Financial Capability module

Learning how to manage your money is a crucial part of university life. UWE Bristol offers a wide range of support to help you develop essential money skills and get confident about your finances.

Our free, award-winning Financial Capability module is there to develop and improve your knowledge, confidence and financial skills. The module won the National Association of Student Money Advisers (NASMA) Financial Capability Engagement Award in June 2018.

Benefits

It tackles topics such as attitudes to money, budgeting, scams, saving and spending, and gives practical guidance on what to do if something goes wrong.

You will be able to develop and improve your financial skills, knowledge and confidence. There will be a particular focus on the financial products most used by students – overdrafts, student loans and credit cards.

It is part of the UWE Bristol Futures Award. To count the module as an activity, you must attend all three workshops. However, you are still welcome to attend any of the workshops individually.

How to attend

The module lasts six hours and is structured over three themed weekly workshops. It runs twice a year.
