1. Step 1

    You will need to:

    • complete your E-Induction on the UWE Bristol accommodation portal
    • pay for your accommodation through the UWE Bristol accommodation portal
    • if you're a UK student, set up a Direct Debit for your rent payment
    • if you're an international student, have created a recurring card payment, unless you've made other arrangements with us
    • upload your photo in MYUWE
    • bring photographic identification (student ID ideally but if you have not received this, your passport or driving licence)
    • bring your welcome/student ID number.
  2. Step 2

Packing for university is exciting, especially if it's your first time living independently. But what do you actually need to bring? Here's our ultimate guide to packing smart.

  3. Step 3

You can collect your keys from the start of your contract. Please note not all contract start dates are the same so please check your contract start date by logging in to our accommodation portal (this has been sent to you by email) to read more about your move in date.

When you arrive, the first thing you'll need to do is pick up your keys or access card so you can get into your building and room.

Further information on where to collect your keys for any contracts starting September 2023.

    Arriving outside of these times

We understand that it is not always possible for you to move in during the planned dates/times. If you are unable to arrive during these times, please let us know your plans by emailing the accommodation team on accommodation@uwe.ac.uk so that we may arrange alternative arrangements with you.

    International arrivals/airport pick-ups

If you are arriving on one of our scheduled airport runs, you will be accompanied and supported throughout your journey, including where to collect your key and student ID.

    Moving into city centre accommodation

If you're living in city centre accommodation, our partners Unite Students, Capitol Students, Collegiate and Campus Living Villages (who manage the buildings) will send you further information and directions about what to do on moving day.

  4. Step 4

We do our best to make sure your accommodation is in good order when you move in. However, if you experience any problems or find any faults when you first get here, please report them to us:

We'll deal with problems in order of urgency - less urgent ones may take a little longer to rectify at the start of the academic year.

If you're living in city centre accommodation, please report any problems to your accommodation reception.

  5. Step 5

You are welcome to have visitors stay with you, however, they must be signed in and there are some basic guidelines. Please visit our Student Life pages for more information and to complete the form for overnight guests.

All requests for visitor car parking should be emailed to the Travel team at travel.team@uwe.ac.uk giving a minimum two working days' notice for all campuses due to the limited amount of car parking.

For any urgent requirement for the same or next day visitor parking you should call the Facilities Helpdesk on +44 (0)117 32 81222, they are open Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:30 and Friday 08:30-16:00, closed on weekends. Students are not able to book visitor car parking direct themselves.
