Student accommodation on Glenside Campus

How to apply for accommodation

Once you have familiarised yourself with the accommodation options and found something suitable, the next stage is to complete your application.

Who can apply

Whether you can apply for accommodation is dependant on your application status:

  • First/Firm choice – You have accepted UWE Bristol as your first choice. You can apply for accommodation, and are guaranteed an offer if the application is submitted before 8 June.
  • Second/Insurance choice – You have accepted UWE Bristol as your second choice in case you don't meet the requirements for your firm offer. You cannot apply for our accommodation until you have confirmed us as your first choice.
  • Clearing – a system used towards the end of the academic cycle. If you have not secured a place at university yet, clearing enables you to apply for course vacancies. You will not be guaranteed accommodation but can still apply, and Accommodation Services will keep you up to date with any vacancies.

When to apply

We guarantee University-approved accommodation for all students coming to UWE Bristol provided the applicant is registering at UWE Bristol for the first time and  meets the deadline of 8 June (see below if you miss this deadline), although this may not necessarily be your preferences.

Accommodation is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and it is essential that you apply early to secure your preferred accommodation. Applications open from the end of March, with Frenchay Campus accommodation one of the most popular choices.

How to apply

If you have firmly accepted an offer of a place to study at the University, you will receive an in-tray message to your UWE Bristol welcome webpage. This message will confirm your eligibility to apply for accommodation when the applications open from the end of March. Admissions will also send you the link to the online application form.

When you first open the web link to make an application, you will need to click on the option to 'create account' in order to process your application.

Health and Applied Sciences placements

If you are undertaking a practice placement as part of a HAS course, we can help you find suitable private accommodation. Please see the AHP placement accommodation information.

When will I find out the result of my application?

We normally start allocating at the end of April and find that campus accommodation is fully allocated within a few weeks, swiftly followed by city centre accommodation. Allocations will continue throughout May, June and July.

We will send you an offer of accommodation by email from six to eight weeks after the date you have applied. You will have five days to accept the offer and you will be asked to make an online payment of £250 to secure your accommodation.

Please make sure that the email address you supply us with will be live throughout June, July and August. We don't recommend that you register with a school or college email address because we will use this email address to send you all the accommodation correspondence. We also ask that you supply a contact telephone number.

What if I don’t get the results I need?

Many students will receive examination results in August and will begin preparing for their studies at UWE Bristol. If your results are not what you expect, contact Admissions so that one of our advisers can explain your options.

If you no longer require accommodation for any reason, please email no later than 25 August and we will be able offer the room to another student and process a refund for your £250 deposit.

Late applicants

If you submit your application and have missed our deadline for applying for accommodation please do not worry. We will keep you up to date with any vacancies. However, you may want to consider searching for private accommodation.
