PhD Studentships (part-funded): Engineering Modelling and Simulation Group

An exciting opportunity to apply for one of two part-funded studentships to study for a full-time PhD degree in the Engineering Modelling and Simulation GroupUWE Bristol. The studentships cover full-time UK/EU tuition fees with an additional small annual bursary.

The expected start date of the two studentships is Tuesday 1 October 2019.

The closing date for applications is Monday 15 April 2019.

About the studentships

Applicants may apply for any of the following 3 research projects:

Project 1: Development of in-house capability for unconventional wing design and performance evaluation and wind tunnel testing

The supervision team will be Professor Yufeng Yao, Dr Abdessalem Bouferrouk and Dr Pritesh Narayan. For an informal discussion about this project, please email yufeng.yao@uwe.ac.uk.

Project 2: Development and demonstration of a new series of robots which use 'active touch' for damage detection and health monitoring of composite structures

Project 3: Development of model independent control system design

Funding details

The two studentships are available from 1 October 2019 for a period of three years, subject to satisfactory progress, and include full-time tuition fees at UK/EU rates with an additional small annual bursary of £5000. 

Applicants who are required to pay international tuition fees will be required to cover the difference between the UK/EU and the international tuition fee rates in each year of study.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must have a good honours degree (2.1 or equivalent) in subjects such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, control and electrical engineering, and other relevant fields.

A recognised English language qualification is required.
