Summer 2019 refurbishments

We are upgrading some of the furniture in Frenchay Library over the summer, including replacement desks and chairs.  This will involve closing sections of the library study spaces to make changes to the electrics in preparation for changes to the layout.

The majority of activity will take place between Monday 10 - Thursday 13 June, with the carpets cleaned on Friday 14 June. Our new furniture will arrive at the start of July and will include some drilling through the floors.

We are expecting some noise disruption. You can go to the level 2 help pods to get a free pair of ear plugs or borrow headphones. Library staff can also help to advise on an alternative area of the library to work in, if you need specific software, equipment or noise level.

Additional information about the refurbishments

  • The lifts will remain accessible.
  • We are not moving any book stock.
  • You will still have access to every floor, but may not be able to use some seating areas.
  • The newspaper stand will permanently relocate to Level 2.

Nearby construction work

Work is progressing on the new Environment and Technology building just outside the back of Frenchay Library.

In particular, we have be advised that there will be noise disruption while they dig a trench between Thursday 27 June - Sunday 21 July. We advise settling down to study nearer Staircase 7 on each floor to minimise the disruption.

Please come to the level 2 help pods to get a free pair of ear plugs or borrow headphones. Library staff can also help to advise on an alternative area of the library to work in, if you need specific software, equipment or noise level.
