Adult Nursing at UWE Bristol's Gloucester Campus
I wanted to stay in Gloucestershire and ultimately work here as this is where I have been brought up. I liked the idea of studying in an area that I’m familiar with, within the close knit surroundings of Alexandra Warehouse at UWE Bristol, Gloucester Campus.
Since being on the course I have found the staff here really good and very supportive. It’s a great atmosphere as you know everybody and so you can simply just walk into the office and immediately know who to speak to.

Why study at Alexandra Warehouse?
Before coming to UWE Bristol, I had previously worked as a Dental Nurse at Bristol Dental Hospital, and after two years of doing that I thought “Well what next?” Becoming an adult nurse had always been on my mind.
The clinical skills room is where we do practical exercises. It's great to have because it’s like walking in to a hospital ward. We've got a computer suite here and the library is brilliant. All of us students are very proud to be studying here.
I think the best thing about the course is the placements.
I had one placement in intensive care which was great. I got to see so much of the patients and the staff and get a good understanding of what goes on in the ward.
My placement in the community was fantastic and that’s when I decided community nursing was what I wanted to do! The last placement I went on was in a gynaecology ward in Gloucester. I saw and learnt about excellent nursing care. I got really good mentorship and worked with a fantastic and supportive team.
I’m currently applying for community nursing roles in the local area after I enjoyed my community placements so much. The UWE Bristol staff have been so helpful in helping us with our applications and NHS staff have also been in to help us with interview techniques too.
