Project summary

Water security is an ever more important global issue, of relevance and importance to individuals, businesses, governments and organisations and intrinsically linked to other environmental and resource challenges such as energy security, food security and low carbon futures. The IWSN project brings together UWE Bristol, Monash South Africa and the University of Arizona to investigate issues around water security.

The work undertaken is grounded in real world concerns, with experiences, solutions and best practices that can be transferred and shared for the public good. AQMRC has supported the IWSN research on topics including green infrastructure and urban resilience, water-energy-food nexus at the urban scale and specifically related to shale gas exploration and  on coastal governance.

This project is funded by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, a charitable foundation helping to protect life and property by supporting engineering-related education, public engagement and the application of research.
