The Lizard field trip
We stay in Coverack in a Youth Hostel and gravel each day into the field. On this field course the Igneous and Metamorphic rocks of the Lizard peninsular, Cornwall are investigated to develop an understanding of the diversity of mineral and rock types present in order to understand the geological context in which they were formed.
On this field course students develop their mineral identification, field mapping and problem solving skills alongside extending their knowledge of igneous and metamorphic geology.
Each day students submit their field note book, field sketches and interpretations of the field sites gradually building up an understanding of the regions geology and its formation, through time.
