Dartmoor field trip
We stay at Colehayes Park, near Bovey Tracey on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Time in the field is very valuable for geographers and so work both before and during the fieldtrip is intense.
Whilst on the fieldtrip students investigate topics such as river processes, coastal landforms and management, woodland ecology, geology and the development of the Dartmoor landscape, water chemistry and bathing water quality. The fieldtrip is designed to enhance subject knowledge but also to develop key field skills and field data presentation.
Each evening there is work to be submitted for assessment by tutors and this gives students the opportunity to gauge their progress at this early stage of their course. By the end of the fieldtrip experience you will know all of your other course colleagues and the staff team. The field week is a great educational and social week and by the end you will feel a great deal more confident in your own abilities as a trainee geographer.
