Airbus logoAirbus is a leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats. Over 9,300 Airbus aircraft have been sold to some 312 customers worldwide and more than 5,700 of these have been delivered since the company first entered the market in the early seventies.

Collaborative and innovative graduates will enjoy the chance to develop their technical and leadership skills on the Airbus Direct Entry Graduate (DEG) programme. The structured programme helps develop a detailed knowledge of the chosen business function through placements in the UK and Europe, with strategic partners, customers and suppliers. Individual programmes can vary depending on the function joined.

Each year we have between 50 to 80 graduate vacancies in design, engineering and manufacturing engineering, with further roles in procurement, programme planning, supply-chain logistics, human resources, finance and information communication technology.

Opportunities are also available to undergraduates interested in an work placement at Airbus of between 3 to 12 months duration. The experience you gain improves your chances of a future role with Airbus.

Zircon Software

Zircon logoZircon Software is an ambitious software company based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, specialising in developing high quality control and information applications for the road and rail sectors of the transport industry.

Zircon provides solutions to clients’ software engineering problems. Typical problems range from a lack of expertise in a particular area to a shortfall in resources. Zircon is able to provide assistance with the development of complete software applications or by simply providing specialist consultancy services in areas such as requirements analysis, design, verification & validation and project management.

Zircon principally provides its services to clients within the intelligent transport systems (ITS) and rail industries. Applications range from rail control systems and urban traffic control products through to the development of software to enable the distribution and presentation of traffic and travel information.

We develop bespoke applications of various types, from web-based information systems to embedded real time control systems. Our work is engineering-based, as opposed to business/office IT systems, with an emphasis on quality, particularly as many applications are safety related. We work mainly in C# and C++ on various Windows and Linux platforms, along with the latest technologies, such as ASP .NET, AJAX, WPF, Silverlight and XML, but other languages and technologies are employed as appropriate.

Zircon offers its employees training opportunities such as MSc courses with the Open University.  All Zircon engineers complete the Association of Project Managers (APM) Introductory Certificate.

Zircon have been nominated as finalists in this year’s IET Innovations Award for our 3D train graph product.
