Welcome to the Faculty of Environment and Technology
I am delighted to welcome you to the Faculty of Environment and Technology at UWE, situated in the beautiful city of Bristol. We are a highly successful and very popular Faculty of over 6000 students and 450 staff members.
Our comprehensive and interdisciplinary portfolio of research and education lies within the following four academic Departments:
- Computer Science and Creative Technologies
- Architecture and the Built Environment
- Engineering Design and Mathematics
- Geography and Environmental Management
Our focus is on optimising both well-developed as well as new technological advancements for the benefit of the natural and human environment.
Partnerships and collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Our partners include the World Health Organisation through our WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and Urban Policy, governments, industry and business, including a multi-milion pound strategic partnership with Hewlett-Packard, as well as a range of national and international academic institutions. With 80% of our research rated as world leading and internationally recognised in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, our strengths and success in knowledge creation is truly commendable. Our research partners span the globe and we continue to gain significant research and knowledge exchange income from research councils, industry and leading charitable trusts.
I am proud to be part of such an inspirational and successful Faculty and am confident that my sense of pride is echoed throughout our staff and student community. Whether you are thinking of coming to study with us, to conduct research, to teach or to work with us in partnership, I am sure you will find what you are looking for on our web pages. And if you don't, please give us a call on the numbers provided and let's see what we can do together!
