Men’s basketball at UWE Bristol operates at an elite level and the programme has established itself as a premier destination for basketball excellence in the South of England.

As a student-athlete you'll experience an outstanding basketball experience coupled with your academic study.

Your experience

You’ll receive professional-level performance coaching throughout your time with the programme, combined with sport-specific facilities for training. This includes the Shootaway basketball shooting gun, which is available for you to use whenever the sports hall is free.

Under Coach George Varney's leadership the UWE Bristol men’s basketball programme won the BUCS Southern Championship 2023 and finished as runners-up in the national playoffs.

Coach Varney's coaching style, expertise and commitment to excellence make him an invaluable asset to the UWE Bristol basketball programme.
