UWE Bristol's Phase IV programme
The Heartbeat programme is UWE Bristol Sport's cardiac Phase IV rehabilitation programme run in partnership with Southmead Hospital.
About the rehabilitation programme
The Phase IV cardiac rehabilitation programme is a 12-week rehabilitation programme, which aims to guide patients through changes to their exercise patterns in order to enhance their lifestyle and to aid the prevention of further cardiac episodes.
Taking part in the programme
Patients are referred to UWE Bristol Sport from their Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase III programme specialist. Our coordinator will then contact the patient to book their initial consultation as a 12-week cardiac fitness class.
12-week cardiac class
The class is weekly on Thursdays from 16:00–17:00 and is delivered by a phase IV qualified instructor.
Price: £30 per person for the 12 weeks.
What happens next
There are two progression cardiac classes that you are welcome to join. These are every Monday (14:45–15:45) and Friday (10:00–11:00) which are available upon completion of the Phase IV programme.
After the programme has finished, you and your training partner can become a gym member at UWE Bristol Sport at the concessionary rate of £245.
