Valuable experience isn't limited to lecture theatres and work placements. Learning more about who you are, what you love, trying new things out and making new connections is invaluable too.
Sports and societies
Join one of The Students' Union's 160 sport clubs and societies. It's a great way to make new friends and try something new or build on an existing hobby or interest.
UWE Bristol Sport offers a range of fitness classes and first-rate facilities including fully-equipped fitness suites, multi-sports pitches and a climbing wall.
The Hallslife programme turns campus in to a great community by running lots of events and activities to help you make friends and connections and settle in to campus life.
I'm a big advocate for people joining societies. I didn't join in my first year and it's my biggest regret. I joined Hub Voice student magazine in my second year. I was Assistant Editor and I absolutely loved it. I'm joining the History Society next year as their social media guru.
No matter what you are studying, or whether you are an expert or a beginner, the Centre for Music have fantastic opportunities for learning, exploring and performing music from classical and jazz, rock and pop, to underground and electronic.
You get a lot back when you give your time. A different perspective and some CV-enhancing opportunities, for starters. There are typically around 150 volunteering roles live at one time and Bristol is such a social action city. Find out more about volunteering.
UWE Bristol Futures Award
We encourage our students to experience more. Our Futures Award allows you to gain a recognition and help you develop valuable employability skills for participating in a wide range of opportunities from volunteering, to work placements and study abroad opportunities as well as things like becoming a student ambassador or taking part in intercultural activities.
