Introduction to the Complaints and Appeals Team
The Complaints and Appeals Team are available to offer advice
and guidance to anyone who is left feeling dissatisfied by a
University action or decision and, similarly, to those
investigating an informal complaint or grievance.
The team is responsible for investigating and responding to formal complaints and appeals, ensuring that the learning points arising from cases are fed back to the relevant department/service.
What is a complaint?
A complaint is an expression of dissatisfaction requiring a response, this could be in relation to almost any aspect of the University and could be submitted by anyone who feels it appropriate to do so.

What is an appeal?
There are several categories of appeal at UWE Bristol: ‘Academic Appeals’ relating to the publication of academic results, and appeals relating to the outcome of a University policy, such as those listed below (each policy has its own appeal stage):
- Suspension and Expulsion for Academic Reasons (Academic Regulation H31)
- Student Conduct Policy
- Fitness to Study
- Professional Suitability (Education, Health and Applied Science Programmes)
