Violin section of Orchestra

Orchestra

A welcoming orchestra that benefits from regular mentoring and support by professional musicians and is led by Steven Legge.

We welcome players of all orchestral instruments, usually at Grade 6 and above.

The orchestra performs annually at the Colston Hall as part of the Festival of Sound as well as campus recitals and concerts in Bristol Cathedral and Clifton Cathedral.

The following clips were recorded during a performance at Bristol Cathedral.

Open to the community

The Centre for Music also opens its doors to staff, alumni and community members. Local instrumentalists are able to audition for the UWE Orchestra.

Next generation 16+

The Centre for Music is looking for the next generation of musical talent to join the UWE Orchestra. We offer support to young musicians looking to further their studies, engage with high-quality music making, and enjoy the experience of a university environment. The ensembles are run by professional musicians; the opportunity to work with industry professionals is fantastic.
