The last St Matthias lecture
Dr Madge Dresser, Associate Professor in History at UWE Bristol, delivered the last lecture at St Matthias Campus on 1 June 2014.
Madge had taught at the college since 1978. She specialises in British Social and Cultural history, and is noted for her work on slavery, gender, and ethnic minorities in Bristol.
Her lecture considered the 150-year history of the Campus, highlighting the significance of figures such as Elsa Nunn, the first female principal, and the development of St Matthias College as an institution for teaching and learning.
