Abigail - Early Childhood
Studied: BA(Hons) Early Childhood.
A holistic perspective on child development
“After volunteering at a local primary school I decided that working with children was the vocation I wanted to pursue. I found that UWE Bristol offered a course that explored a lot more than the educational side of child development. It looked at child development from a holistic perspective, which I felt was the route I wanted to explore.
After visiting UWE Bristol and experiencing the personable and friendly atmosphere I just knew it was the university for me. The combination of the perfect course for my interests and the relaxed yet caring environment was what attracted me.”
“During the course I undertook three placements, two in a primary school working in year 1 and reception and one in Bristol children’s hospital working alongside play therapists.”
“The placements helped my studies as I was able to gain firsthand experience and put into practice the points and theories being taught in lectures and seminars.”
“I particularly enjoyed doing my dissertation. I followed my instincts and passion, which is key to staying enthusiastic, and ended up really enjoying producing a piece of work that I will always be proud of.”
"This course has offered me extensive knowledge and more in order to prepare me for my next endeavor and my chosen career path – PGCE in early years. I have nothing but high praise for every aspect of the Early Childhood course and team.”
