Student success
UWE students have had a steady stream of awards and recognition with 2010 being no different.
Microsoft named Rebecca Williams, a BA(Hons) Business Studies student, Intern of the Year 2010; the Society and College of Radiographers crowned Dawn Bowers 2010 Radiographer of the Year; and our Graphic Design students won three out of the five UK merit awards from the International Society of Typographic Designers. This is to name just a few.
Inspiring alumni
Our former students play an important role in the UWE community by sharing the knowledge they’ve gained at work with current students interested in similar careeers.
One such alumnus is James Murray Wells who, in 2004, aged just 21, and still a student at UWE, started Glasses Direct from his parent's sitting room. With sales now well over 250,000 pairs, it's no wonder that James was named on the 2009 Queen's Birthday list of Awards for Enterprise, the youngest person ever to receive this honour.
