UWE versus University of Bristol
Every year the Varsity Series adds more than a little spice to our sporting calendar. The intense but friendly rivalry between the universities ensures that each event is contended with passion and has fervent support from the sidelines.
Embracing the rivalry
There are competitions in an impressive variety of sports including squash, badminton, fencing, lacrosse and netball alongside the traditional highlight events - rugby union, football and rowing.
Varsity Series 2011 events
Now in its 17th year, the Varsity Series continues to inspire the sports people of UWE to rise to the challenge of Bristol University and secure local bragging rights. The UWE Students' Union provides a Varsity Series 2011 list of events and results.

Congratulations to the UWE rowing team of 2011
Bristol Harbour - Saturday 14 May - UWE wins 4-1.
A bright and breezy day on the harbour made for excellent conditions for rowing and watching. The UWE team, spurred on by an enthusiastic support, put in a an exceptional performance in overturning last years defeat with an emphatic 4-1 victory to claim the Blade trophy.
