Closures

The University will be closed from 17:00 on Thursday 28 March until 8:30 on Wednesday 3 April 2024. Please note Easter weekend at UWE Bristol includes Tuesday 2 April.

What will be available

  • All campus libraries will be open.
  • Campuses will be staffed by our 24/7 security team.
  • Accommodation staff will be available.
  • 24/7 support helpline on +44 (0)800 028 3766.
  • IT telephone support will be available 24 hours a day.

Services

Library opening times

  • Campus libraries will be open but not staffed – make sure you check the opening hours before you set off.
  • You will need your student ID card to gain access and borrow books.
  • No Library staff will be available during the Easter period.
  • Ask a Librarian, our 24/7 live chat service, will be available. They'll be able to help with any research questions.
  • Library staff will respond to any questions that need extra help from Wednesday 3 April.

Sport and fitness

Glenside Hub

Glenside Hub will be closed from 17:00 on Thursday 28 March until 8:30 on Wednesday 3 April 2024.

City Campus studios and technical spaces

Between Wednesday 3 April and Friday 5 April, and Monday 8 April and Friday 12 April (inclusive), final-year students will be able to access the following:

  • Arnolfini Studios: open 9:00-15:00
  • Spike Island Studios: closed – students can use Bower Ashton Campus rooms 0C18 and the Publishing Lab 0C1/2/3

Bower Ashton making and production technical spaces will be closed over the Easter period, unless a local agreement has been made. There will be some low-risk spaces open for final-year student to access between 09:00 and 17:00. Please speak to staff if you would like more information.

Health and wellbeing support

Wellbeing Service opening hours

The Wellbeing Service will be closed from 17:00 on Thursday 28 March until 8:30 on Wednesday 3 April 2024.

Serious concerns

If you have urgent concerns about the welfare of a student or need support yourself, please call the Serious Concerns Line on +44 (0)117 32 84000 between 19:00 and 7:00.

Need to talk to someone?

If you need some support or someone to talk to then please call our free 24/7 support helpline on +44 (0)800 028 3766.

  • Your call will be answered by a trained counsellor and they are able to offer in the moment support and act as a listening ear for a range of issues such as bereavement, stress and anxiety, family issues, exam worries and any other concerns you may have.
  • You can access a language line if needed for translation support.
  • You can also access finance, debt, health and legal advice – just ask for an adviser instead of a counsellor for this.

Samaritans 24/7

  • Samaritans offer a free 24/7 helpline at 116 223.
  • Samaritans offer a safe place for you to talk and explore your concerns, worries or anything that is happening for you or causing you distress.

Chaplaincy (2D19)

Chaplaincy will be closed from 17:00 on Thursday 28 March and will reopen at 9:00 on Wednesday 3 April.

  • Normal hours Monday 25 March to Thursday 28 March.
  • Friday 29 March to Sunday 7 April, 11:00–16:45.
  • Normal hours resume on Monday 8 April.

Cotswold Court

  • Open as normal Monday to Sunday, 13:00–18:45.
 

Glenside Campus

The Accommodation Services desk on Glenside Campus (opposite The Hub):

  • Normal hours Monday 25 March to Thursday 28 March.
  • Closed Friday 29 March to Tuesday 2 April.
  • Normal hours will resume from Wednesday 3 April.

24/7 security support

Campuses will be staffed by our security team 24/7. If you have a problem on any campus, call our 24/7 security team on +44 (0)117 32 86404.

Emergencies on campus

If there’s an emergency on campus, call +44 (0)117 32 89999 (available 24/7, every day of the year). We’ll send staff to help and will call the emergency services for you so that they can find you quickly.

IT support

An out-of-hours IT support service will be available 24 hours a day, every day over the Easter period, please call +44 (0)117 32 83612.

IT Advice Points will be closed for the Easter weekend. IT Advice Point opening times and details of other contact methods available during UWE Bristol business hours can be found on the Service Desk webpages.

Assessment support

If you encounter unexpected difficulties that may affect your ability to do an assessment, a 48-hour late submission window is available, during which you can submit your assignment without penalty. Check Blackboard for specific details for your modules. 

If you need further information talk to Information Point when they re-open on Wednesday 3 April 2024.
