Rod Aldridge OBE

Founder of the Capita Group in 1984, Rod led the company to become the market leader in the provision of support and professional services to the government and private sector in the UK. When he retired in 2006 the Group employed 27,000 people, had a turnover of £1.7bn and was a FTSE 100 company with a market capitalisation of over £4billion. Rod was also Chairman of the CBI Public Service Strategy Board at its inception in 2003 until 2006.
Rod established the Aldridge Foundation in 2006 to further the work of his charitable trust, encouraging entrepreneurship as the catalyst for social change for young people and their communities. He believes that by empowering young people to direct their own lives, aspirations are raised as well as the ability and to realise their true potential.
Rod is the Sponsor of two Academies, the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy in Darwen, near Blackburn, and Falmer in Brighton. He is also Chair of v – the new youth-led charity which aims to inspire one million new young volunteers, and The Lowry – the entertainment and arts venue in Salford.
The Foundation is also involved with a number of innovative projects which aim to promote entrepreneurship as the catalyst for social change.
